After 30+ years in film and television and the last 15 as a producer, Nan Bernstein is now focused on teaching the practical side of the film business and business in general: offering dynamic private mentoring and seminars to film students.

Nan started her education in a six room Pennsylvania schoolhouse. She achieved early acceptance to Boston University and graduated Cum Laude. She became interested in film production and moved to New York City to begin a career in the entertainment industry.

Nan pursued a position at  United Artists, was hired as a publicist and joined the Publicists Guild. She would ultimately turn to production as her creative vehicle of choice. Throughout her career, Nan has learned almost every facet of production by applying her unique skills by asking questions, problem solving, and money management.


SPEAKING EVENTS

  • Keynote speaker at the 2016 Writers Guild of America First Time Showrunners - “CRASH COURSE”.

  • Panelist at a Producers Guild of America 2010 PRODUCED BY CONFERENCE. The panel was “FASTER, BETTER, CHEAPER”.

  • Taught film seminars at Drexel university (Radio, Film and Television College), Texas A&M University and the University of Texas.

 

AWARDS

  • An Emmy nomination for FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS which received seventy-two award nominations and ultimately won fourteen.

  • An International Cine Award for THE MAKING OF TOOTSIE FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY .

  • A Christopher Award, Peabody Award, two DGA Awards, and an AFI Award.

  • She was on the EAST COAST AD/UPM COUNCIL for 16 Years and was nominated to be a delegate to the National Board meeting in Los Angeles several times.
